Heartland School of Music: Gear Review
For more than 40 years now I've been answering questions from my students, as well as fellow musicians, about music gear and what's the best equipment on the market. I have compiled this review, based on my opinion, of all the commercially (mass- produced) available gear on the market today. Yes, I have actually played or currently use all of the instruments you will read about in this blog. Please keep in mind that my views on this gear may not match yours or your experiences with any particular gear, but meant as a guide to those trying to sort through the thousands of available models of gear to get to what they like. Any of the instruments and equipment here would be great for any one of my students to come to class with. I have broken down each category into skill level; beginner/intermediate/advanced and listed the gear I believe to be applicable to each level. The price listed is a guide and may differ in your area, but is fairly accurate for web purchases as of June 2008. I hope I can help you find that perfect piece of gear.
